An Act to authorise the issue out of the Consolidated Fund ofcertain sums for the service of the year ending on 31st March 2001; toappropriate those sums for specified purposes and authorise other sums tobe applied as appropriations in aid for those purposes; to authorise theDepartment of Finance and Personnel to borrow on the credit of theappropriated sums; and to repeal certain Appropriation Orders.

BE IT ENACTED by being passed by the Northern Ireland Assemblyand assented to by Her Majesty as follows:
 

Issue of sum out of the Consolidated Fund for the year ending 31stMarch 2001     1. The Department of Finance and Personnel may issue out of theConsolidated Fund for the service of the year ending on 31st March 2001 thesum of £4,296,588,000.
 
Power for Department of Finance and Personnel to borrow     2. - (1) Subject to subsection (2), the Department of Finance and Personnel mayborrow on the credit of the sums specified in section 1 any sum or sums notexceeding in the whole £2,148,294,000.
 
      (2) Any money so borrowed shall be repaid, with any interest due thereon,out of the Consolidated Fund not later than 31st March 2001.
 
Appropriation of grants     3. - (1) The sum granted by section 1 out of the Consolidated Fund isappropriated for the purposes specified in Schedule 1.
 
      (2) In addition to the sum granted by section 1 out of the ConsolidatedFund, the sums specified in the third column of Schedule 1 may be appliedas appropriations in aid of the grants for the purposes in connection withwhich those sums are specified.
 
Repeal of spent enactments     4. The enactments mentioned in Schedule 2 are hereby repealed to theextent specified in the second column of that Schedule.
 
Short title     5. This Act may be cited as the Appropriation Act (Northern Ireland) 2000.
