    APPEARANCES

For the Appellant MR A FREER
    (Solicitor)

JUDGE LEVY QC: We have before us today the preliminary hearing of an appeal by Mr G W Purssord in which the Respondent to the appeal is Essex Furniture Plc. It concerns a decision made at the Employment Tribunal sitting at Woburn Place, Stratford on 5 February 1999. The decision was sent to the parties on 19 February 1999. The decision of the Tribunal was to dismiss Mr Purssord's case.

  1. We have heard oral argument this morning in support of the Notice of Appeal and we are satisfied that there were matters which should go ahead. However, we were not satisfied with the form of the grounds of appeal. Later in the day we were shown an amended Notice of Appeal which will, when served, we think show the matters which can probably be considered by the panel hearing the appeal in due course. The amended Notice of Appeal should be served within seven days.
  2. Leave to the Respondent to file any consequent amendment to their Respondent's answer, but if they do not need to, their notice can stand.
