ATOMIC ENERGY AND RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES

The Nuclear Installations (Application of Security Provisions) Order 1971

Whereas the Secretary of State has granted permits to British Nuclear Fuels Limited under section 2(1) of the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 as amended by section 17 of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971 authorising the use of sites at Capenhurst in the County of Chester and at Wind-scale in the County of Cumberland for purposes other than, or not limited to, research and development.

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 2(IB) of the Nuclear Installations Act 1965, as amended by section 17 of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971, and all other powers in that behalf enabling him, hereby orders as follows:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Nuclear Installations (Application of Security Provisions) Order 1971 and shall come into operation immediately after being laid before Parliament.

2. The provisions set out in Schedule 1 to the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 shall have effect in relation to British Nuclear Fuels Limited.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order applies to British Nuclear Fuels Limited the security provisions set out in Schedule 1 to the Nuclear Installations Act 1965, as amended by the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971.
