Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates two further districts for the purposes of the Inner Urban Areas Act 1978.

Districts may be designated under this Act by the Secretary of State if he is satisfied that they include an inner urban area in which a social need exists and the conditions giving rise to that need may be alleviated by the use of the powers afforded by the Act. These powers enable the district and county council to make grants and loans for a variety of purposes.
