The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(3) and (4) of the Ports (Finance) Act 1985(1), and with the consent of the Treasury given for the purposes of the said section 1(3), hereby makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before the House of Commons and approved by resolution of that House in accordance with the said section 1(4):-

1. This Order may be cited as the Ports (Finance) Act 1985 (Increase of Grants Limit) Order 1988, and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

2. The Ports (Finance) Act 1985 (Increase of Grants Limit) Order 1986(2)is hereby revoked.

3. The aggregate amount of grants made under section 1 of the Ports (Finance) Act 1985 (grants to the National Dock Labour Board for the purpose of reducing the number of registered dock workers) and referred to in subsection (3) of that section shall not exceed 27 million.
