The Local Government (Assistants for Political Groups) (Remuneration) Order 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, the Secretary of State for Scotland, as respects Scotland, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 9(4)(a) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989(1), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Assistants for Political Groups) (Remuneration) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 4th September 1990.

Relevant amount

2. The amount specified for the purposes of section 9(3) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 is £21,468.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

One of the requirements relating to the terms on which a person is appointed to or holds an appointment in pursuance of section 9 (assistants for political groups) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 is that the annual rate of remuneration for the post is less than £13,500 or such higher amount as the Secretary of State may specify.

This Order specifies £21,468 as the relevant amount in relation to such appointments in England, Scotland and Wales.
