SMALLHOLDINGS AND ALLOTMENTS

The Smallholdings (Full-Time Employment) (Amendment) Regulations 1992

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in relation to England, and the Secretary of State for Wales in relation to Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 39(2) and 63 of the Agriculture Act 1970(1) and now vested in them(2), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:-

Title and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Smallholdings (Full-Time Employment) (Amendment) Regulations 1992, and shall come into force on 15th December 1992.

Amendment of the Smallholdings (Full-Time Employment) Regulations 1970

2. On 31st December 1994 the Smallholdings (Full-Time Employment) Regulations 1970(3) shall be amended in accordance with regulation 3 below.

3.-(1) In paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Schedule, for the word "acres" in each place where it appears, there shall be substituted the word "hectares".

(2) For the table in the Schedule there shall be substituted the following table:

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Smallholdings (Full-Time Employment) Regulations 1970, and implement, in relation to those Regulations, Council Directive 80/181/EEC (OJ No. L39, 15.2.80, p.40) on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to units of measurement and on the repeal of Directive 71/354/EEC (OJ No. L243, 29.10.71, p.29) as amended by Council Directive 85/1/EEC (OJ No. L2, 18.12.84, p.11) and Council Directive 89/617/EEC (OJ No. L357, 7.12.89, p.28).

Regulation 3 amends the Schedule to the principal Regulations by substituting, for references to "acres" references to "hectares", and for figures expressed by reference to acres their equivalents by reference to hectares.
