The Winchester-�Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Newbury Bypass) Slip Roads (No.3) Order 1993

Coming into force

14th September 1993

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:-

1. The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the routes described in the Schedule to this Order, which connect the main new trunk road with another highway at the places stated in that Schedule (the highways along these routes being in this Order referred to as "the slip roads"), shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.

2. The centre line of each of the new slip roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3. In this Order:

(i)"the deposited plan" means the plan numbered PSE/0/A34/13/65/2/5, marked "The Winchester-�Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Newbury Bypass) Slip Roads (No.3) Order 1993", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY;

(ii)"the main new trunk road"means the trunk road to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the Winchester-�Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Newbury Bypass) Order 1991(3); and

(iii)"the A343 link"means the new highway to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the Winchester-�Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Newbury Bypass) (Tot Hill-�Enborne Road Section) Side Roads (No.3) Order 1993 which will connect with the A343 road at Great Pen Wood, as proposed to be improved by him pursuant to that Order.

4. This Order shall come into force on 14th September 1993 and may be cited as the Winchester-�Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Newbury Bypass) Slip Roads (No.3) Order 1993.

SCHEDULEROUTES OF THE SLIP ROADS

The routes of the slip roads are at Great Pen Wood in the District of Basingstoke and Deane in the County of Hampshire:

(1) On the western side of the main new trunk road, a route (given the reference number 1 on the deposited plan) to connect the A343 link with-

(a)a route (given the reference number 2 on the deposited plan) from the northbound carriageway of the main new trunk road, and

(b)a route (given the reference number 3 on the deposited plan) to the northbound carriageway of the main new trunk road.

(2) On the eastern side of the main new trunk road, a route (given the reference number 4 on the deposited plan) to connect the A343 link with-

(a)a route (given the reference number 5 on the deposited plan) to the southbound carriageway of the main new trunk road, and

(b)a route (given the reference number 6 on the deposited plan) from the southbound carriageway of the main new trunk road.
