The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3(1) of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Charities (Designated Religious Bodies) (Scotland) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 7th December 1993.
2. In this Order-�
"the Act" means the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990; and
"recognised body" has the meaning given by section 1 of the Act.
3. The Secretary of State hereby designates for the purposes of section 3 of the Act the recognised bodies which are specified in the Schedule to this Order.

The Free Church of Scotland;
The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland;
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh;
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Glasgow;
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Argyll and the Isles;
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Dunkeld;
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Galloway;
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Paisley; and
The Scottish Episcopal Church.
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates for the purposes of section 3 of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 the recognised bodies (or Scottish charities) which appear to the Secretary of State to meet the criteria set out in that section (designated religious bodies).
