(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 46 of the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994 establishes committees comprising of representatives of the existing Welsh principal councils whose areas will be wholly or partly within the area of any new principal council created by the 1994 Act. These committees are known as transition committees and their function is to consider and advise on matters relevant to ensuring that the new Welsh councils will be able to function effectively from 1st April 1996.

This Order makes provision for expenses to be payable to councillors serving as members of transition committees, by modifying the provisions of the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) Regulations 1991 (S.I. 1991/351).

(2)

S.I. 1991/351: relevant amending Instrument is 1994/615.

(3)

The figure of £8,291 was substituted by the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations 1994 (S.I. 1994/615).

(4)

The Table to the Schedule was substituted by the Instrument identified in footnote (c) above.
