1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.
(2) In these Regulations, a reference to "the principal Regulations" is a reference to the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Regulations 1990(3).
2. For Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations there shall be substituted the following:-�

These Regulations further amend the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Regulations 1990, which make provision for the registration in respect of nursing homes under the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Act 1938.
These Regulations increase the prescribed fee which a Health Board may impose in respect of applications for registration and for continuation of registration and related procedures. (The fees currently prescribed are £678, £22, £100, and £10).
By virtue of the Reorganisation of Offices (Scotland) Act 1939 (c. 20), section 1(1) and (6)(b), the Department of Health for Scotland means the Secretary of State.
