The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6(6) and (7) of the Museums and Galleries Act 1992(1), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as The Museums and Galleries Act 1992 (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 23rd November 2000.
2.-(1) In Part I of Schedule 5 to the Museums and Galleries Act 1992, after "The Board of Trustees of the Victoria and Albert Museum" there shall be inserted-
"The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England".
(2) In Part II of Schedule 5 to the Museums and Galleries Act 1992(2), after "The Board of Trustees of The National Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland" there shall be inserted-
"Historic Royal Palaces"; and
"The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty".

This Order amends Schedule 5 to the Museums and Galleries Act 1992 ("the Schedule") to include The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England, (established by the National Heritage Act 1983 and commonly referred to as "English Heritage"), Historic Royal Palaces (established by Royal Charter of 11 February 1998) and The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty (established by the National Trust Act 1907).
The effect of this Order is to enable The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England to transfer objects and documents to any body specified in the Schedule and to enable The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England, Historic Royal Palaces and The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty to receive such objects and documents from any body specified in Part I of the Schedule.

Part II was amended by The Museums and Galleries Act 1992 (Amendment) Order 1998, S.I. 1998/613.
