The A34 Trunk Road (Newtown, Great Wyrley, Staffordshire To The Southern Boundary Of The A34/A500 Queensway Roundabout, Staffordshire) (Detrunking) Order 2002

  Made 26th April 2002 
  Coming into force 16th May 2002 

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: - 

     1. This Order may be cited as the A34 Trunk Road (Newtown, Great Wyrley, Staffordshire to the southern boundary of the A34/A500 Queensway Roundabout, Staffordshire) (Detrunking) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 16th May 2002.

    
2. In this Order - 

     3. The lengths of the trunk road route described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTHS OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD


The lengths of trunk road ceasing to be trunk road:

     1. From the Staffordshire County/Walsall Metropolitan Borough Boundary of Newtown, Great Wyrley, (starting point marked "A" on the plan) and continues in a northerly direction through the Districts of South Staffordshire, Cannock Chase and Stafford in the County of Staffordshire terminating at a point on the southern boundary of the A34 Ampleforth Drive Roundabout, Queensville, (but not including the circulatory carriageway) (marked "B" on the plan), a distance of approximately 20.4 kilometres.

     2. From a point on the eastern boundary of the M6 Junction 14, Cresswell/A34 roundabout, Stafford, (but not including the circulatory carriageway), (marked "C" on the plan) and continues in an easterly and northerly direction through the Districts of Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent in the County of Staffordshire terminating at a point on the southern boundary of the A34/A500 Queensway Roundabout, (but not including the circulatory carriageway) (marked "D" on the plan), a distance of approximately 20.1 kilometres.

They are shown by broad black dashes on the plans and are approximately 40.5 kilometres in total.
