HIGHWAYS, ENGLAND

The A66 Trunk Road (Long Newton Grade Separated Junction Slip Roads) Order 2005

  Made 2nd February 2005 
  Coming into force 17th February 2005 

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:

     1. This Order maybe cited as the A66 Trunk Road (Long Newton Grade Separated Junction Slip Roads) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 17th February 2005.

    
2. In this Order - 

    (1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

    (2)  - 

     3. From the date when this Order comes into force - 

shall become trunk roads.

    
4. The centre line of each of the slip roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan.

    
5. The Secretary of State directs as respects any part of a highway which crosses the route of any of the new slip roads that - 

until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. The date specified will not be later than the date on which the relevant route is opened for traffic.

    
6. The A66 Trunk Road (Long Newton Grade Separated Junction Slip Roads) Order 1996[3] is hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE 1
THE SLIP ROADS

The routes of the slip roads are as follows:

     1. A route (marked "A" on the plan) approximately 135 metres in length starting on the westbound carriageway of the A66 Trunk Road at a point 10 metres south of its junction with Darlington Road, proceeding in a south-westerly direction, then a southerly direction terminating at a roundabout which the Secretary of State proposes to construct,

     2. A route (marked "B" on the plan) approximately 215 metres in length starting at a point 280 metres west of the junction of the A66 Trunk Road with Darlington Road, proceeding in a south-easterly direction terminating at a roundabout which the Secretary of State proposes to construct,

     3. A route (marked "C" on the plan) approximately 490 metres in length starting on the eastbound carriageway of the A66 Trunk Road at a point 50 metres east of its junction with the access to Farfields Farm, going westerly then northerly, then southerly on a bridge crossing over the A66 Trunk Road to a roundabout which the Secretary of State proposes to construct,

     4. A route (marked "D" on the plan) approximately 170 metres in length starting at a point on the eastbound carriageway of the A66 Trunk Road 100 metres west of the access to Farfields Farm, and proceeding in a north easterly then a north westerly direction, to a point on slip road "C" approximately 100 metres north of the A66 Trunk Road,

     5. A route (marked "E" on the deposited plan) approximately 225 metres in length starting at a point on the existing Eastern Layby 20 metres west from its eastern junction with the A66 Trunk Road, and proceeding in a northerly direction, then in an easterly direction and, terminating at a point on slip road "D" approximately 170 metres from its junction with the A66 Trunk Road.



SCHEDULE 2

LENGTH OF EXISTING HIGHWAY BECOMING A TRUNK ROAD


     6. A route (marked "F" on the deposited plan) approximately 590 metres in length forming part of the existing Eastern Layby starting at its western junction with the A66 Trunk Road and ending approximately 20 metres west of its eastern junction with A66 Trunk Road.
