The Consular Fees Order 2007

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(1) of the Consular Fees Act 1980[1] is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Consular Fees Order 2007 and shall come into force on 1 April 2007.

    
2. In this Order—

     3. The fees set forth in the table in Schedule 1 to this Order are prescribed to be levied by consular officers and by marriage officers under the Foreign Marriage Act 1892 [3] and the Marriage with Foreigners Act 1906 [4] in the execution of their duties, and the said table shall be construed as part of this Order.

     4. The statutory instruments listed in Schedule 2 to this Order are hereby revoked.

TABLE OF CONSULAR FEES




PART 1

NOTARIAL AND KINDRED MATTERS

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order revokes and replaces the Consular Fees Order 2005, the Consular Fees (Civil Partnership) Order 2005, the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 2005 and the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 2006.

The Order sets out fees to be charged for consular services.

The Order increases fees for services in relation to the services listed under the following parts to the Consular Fees Order:

Part I Notarial and kindred matters - all fees.
Part II Passports, visas and kindred matters - fees 12A, 13A, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 only.
Part III Births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships - all fees.
Part IV Searches - all fees.
Part V Estates - all fees.
Pat VI Attendances - all fees.
Part VII Matters relating to legal proceedings - all fees.
Part VIII Repatriation and financial assistance - all fees.
Part IX Shipping, seamen and kindred matters - all fees.

Most consular fees are increased, by amounts ranging from just under 30% to just over 40% .

Overseas passport fees are increased from £91 to £119 (standard passport for those 16 years or over), from £59 to £76 (standard passport for those under 16) and from £109 to £144 (48-page passport). The fee for amending an existing passport abroad is increased from £75.50 to £97.50. The fee for issuing emergency passports is increased from £43.50 to £55.50 and temporary passports from £55 to £70.50.

Fees for visas other than for the United Kingdom or for the Crown Dependencies and transit visas are increased from £30 to £44 and for six month visit visas from £50 to £63. Fees for applications for settlement and marriage visas are increased from £260 to £500 and for student visas from £85 to £99. Fees for applications for any other form of visa and certificates of entitlement to the right of abode are increased from £85 to £200.
