CLEAN AIR, ENGLAND

The Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2007

  Coming into force 1st October 2007 

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 20(6) of the Clean Air Act 1993[1]:

Citation, application and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2007; they apply in England and come into force on 1st October 2007.

2. Schedule 1 to the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (England) Regulations 2001[2] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

Amendments to Schedule 1 to the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (England) Regulations 2001


     1. In paragraph 1, after "County Durham, ", insert "or manufactured by Oxbow Carbon & Minerals UK Limited, Windsor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend Schedule 1 to the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (England) Regulations 2001. They insert new paragraphs in that Schedule, declaring fuels to be authorised by the Secretary of State for the purposes of section 20(6) of the Clean Air Act 1993 as follows: paragraphs 3A (Big K Instant Lighting Fire Logs), 19A (La Hacienda Easy Logs), 22A (Optima Fire Logs), 23A (Pyrobloc Fire Logs), 31A (Unicite) and 34 (which authorises a new category of Zip Firelogs). They also amend paragraphs 1 (Aimcor Excel briquettes), 2 (Aimcor Pureheat briquettes) and 20 (Long Beach Lump nuts) so that these list new manufacturers for the fuels in question. A full impact assessment has not been produced as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
