JUSTICES OF THE PEACE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Justices of the Peace (Commission Areas) (Amendment) Order 2001

  Made 5th March 2001 
  Coming into force 1st April 2001 

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1997[1], makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the Justices of the Peace (Commission Areas) (Amendment) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st April 2001.

    (2) In this Order "the 1999 Order" means the Justices of the Peace (Commission Areas) Order 1999[
2].

Amendments to the 1999 Order
     2.  - (1) After the word "committee" in article 1(2) of the 1999 Order there shall be added the words "; and "the GLMCA" means the Greater London Magistrates' Courts Authority referred to in section 30A(1) of the Justices of the Peace Act 1997[3]".

    (2) For the Schedule to the 1999 Order there shall be substituted the Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order substitutes a new list for the list of commission areas in the Justices of the Peace (Commission Areas) Order 1999. The new list substituted by this Order takes account of changes to magistrates' courts committee areas effected by Orders that establish on 1st April 2001 the following magistrates' courts committees:

The new list also takes account of the Greater London Magistrates' Courts Authority established under section 30A(1) of the Justices of the Peace Act 1997 (inserted by section 83(1) of the Access to Justice Act 1999).
