EDUCATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2001

  Made 4th August 2001 
  Laid before Parliament 10th August 2001 
  Coming into force 1st September 2001 

The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 22, 42(6) and 43(1) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998[1], hereby makes the following Regulations:

     1. These regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 1st September 2001.

    
2. The Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 2000[2] shall be amended as follows.

     3. In Regulation 2(1) - 

     4. In regulation 7(1) - 

     5. In regulation 8(1)(b) add at the end the following words "and that the regulation shall be read as if for the figures set out in it and listed in column 1 of the Schedule there had been substituted the figures in column 2;".

    
6. In regulation 9 for the figure "US$22,400" substitute the figure "US$23,200".

    
7. Without prejudice to the definition of the Student Support Regulations 2000, in regulation 10(1) the reference to regulation 22 of the Student Support Regulations 2000 shall be read as a reference to regulation 23 of the Education (Student Support) Regulations 2001[3].

     8. Add as a Schedule to the Regulations the following:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations, which come into force on 1st September 2001, further amend the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 2000 ("the principal Regulations").

A typographical error in the principal Regulations is corrected and there is an uprating of grants (regulations 3(a), 4, 5 and 6). The provision for dependants' grant at regulations 7(1)(g) and 8(1)(b) of the principal Regulations applies without the amendments made by the Student Support Regulations 2001, save for an uprating of the figures (regulations 3(b), 4(d), 5 and 8). The reference in regulation 10(1) of the principal Regulations to regulation 22 of the Student Support Regulations is updated (regulation 7).
