PENSIONS

The Pensions Increase (Civil Service Injury Benefits Scheme) Regulations 2004

  Made 6th July 2004 
  Laid before Parliament 6th July 2004 
  Coming into force 27th July 2004 

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(2) and (4) of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971[1] and now vested in them[2], hereby make the following Regulations: - 

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pensions Increase (Civil Service Injury Benefits Scheme) Regulations 2004, and shall come into force on 27th July 2004.

Interpretation
     2. In these Regulations - 

Pensions to which the 1971 Act will apply
     3. The 1971 Act shall have effect in relation to any pensions payable under the scheme (being a scheme under section 1 of the Superannuation Act 1972[3] made by virtue of section 2(2) of that Act) as if they were pensions specified in Part I of Schedule 2 to the 1971 Act.

Date from which increases of pension are to have effect
     4. Any increase of pension payable by virtue of these Regulations shall take effect in respect of any pension beginning on or after 1st October 2002.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations apply the provisions of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 to any pension payable under the Civil Service Injury Benefits Scheme. The rate of any such pension is thereby increased annually in accordance with the Retail Prices Index.
